Can I bring a nanny with my O-1?

In general, not through your own visa. The O-1 is an individual visa designed for people with extraordinary ability in their field. It allows direct dependents (spouse and children) to accompany the primary holder under the O-3, but that category does not authorize work.

For support personnel, there is the O-2, reserved for assistants whose presence is essential and integral to the work that justified the O-1, such as technical or artistic team members who work alongside the primary holder. A nanny or domestic employee typically does not fit this concept of an assistant essential to the professional activity.

In practice, this means that bringing a nanny along would require her own separate visa pathway, compatible with her role and employment conditions, and not the O-2.

Since every situation has its own particularities, it is worth checking the current options with the USCIS or with a specialist before making plans.
