Can I hold a part-time job with another employer without tying it to my O-1?

The O-1 is an employer-sponsored visa tied to the approved petition. That means you are authorized only to perform the duties and activities described in that specific petition, for the sponsoring employer who filed it. A second job, even part-time with a different company, is not automatically covered by that same visa.

To work legitimately for a second employer, that new employer must file its own petition, whether concurrent or separate, authorizing the additional activity under the O-1 terms. Only after that petition is approved may the additional work begin. Performing compensated work without that specific authorization may be treated as a violation of your visa terms and put your status at risk.

It is worth keeping in mind that the logic of the O-1 is always to pair each activity with a sponsor who takes responsibility for it before the immigration authorities. If a new legitimate opportunity arises, the right path is to formalize it before starting, not after.
