My English is basic, but my research is high-level. Is that a problem?

Having basic English does not, by itself, prevent you from applying for the EB-2 NIW. This green card pathway evaluates the merit and national importance of your work to the United States, not your language fluency.

What the authority reviews is the strength of your profile and the evidence you present: publications, recommendation letters, recognition in your field, and the concrete impact of your work. English proficiency is not an eligibility criterion for this visa.

There is, however, a practical language requirement: all submitted documents must be in English or accompanied by a proper translation. This may represent extra preparation effort, but it does not weaken your application.
