What is the main difference between L-1 and O-1?

The O-1, on the other hand, does not depend on a transfer or an employer from the same group. It is aimed at individuals with extraordinary ability in fields such as sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics, demonstrated through a track record of achievements and recognition in their field.

In short: the L-1 asks ‘where do you come from within the company,’ and the O-1 asks ‘how much do you stand out in your field.’ Since the requirements for each are evaluated on a case-by-case basis, it is worth confirming the current conditions with USCIS or a specialist before choosing your path.
