Is the EB-4 more flexible than the EB-1A?

It is not accurate to say that one is simply ‘more flexible’ than the other. The EB-4 and the EB-1A operate under different logics, and each has its own requirements that can be quite demanding depending on your profile.

The difference lies in the type of requirement:

• The EB-1A is for individuals who demonstrate extraordinary ability in fields such as sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics, which calls for a robust body of evidence of outstanding recognition.
• The EB-4 is the special immigrant visa category, covering certain religious workers and other groups defined by law, and requires proving that you qualify under one of those specific categories.

In other words, the EB-1A tends to be demanding in terms of merit, while the EB-4 is restrictive in terms of eligibility: you must belong to a specific group established by law. Neither is inherently easier, only more suitable for a given profile.
