If I have never held a managerial position abroad, can I qualify for the EB-1C?

Without managerial experience abroad, the EB-1C is unlikely to apply, since the category is for managers and executives transferred by a multinational. The EB-1A may be the alternative.

The EB-1C is designed for executives and managers of multinational companies who are being transferred to work in the United States within the same company or an affiliate. By definition, it requires prior leadership experience abroad within that organization. If you have not held a managerial or executive position outside the United States, it is natural that your profile may not meet the requirements of this category.

What the category seeks to establish is genuine management responsibility or strategic decision-making authority, supported by your professional history. This evaluation is rigorous and requires solid documentation of the position you held abroad, so a role without a leadership scope will rarely sustain the petition.

This does not close the doors to EB-1: if your distinction comes from another type of achievement, such as extraordinary ability in your field, the more likely path becomes the EB-1A, which does not depend on a managerial role or an employer-sponsored transfer.

Since requirements are assessed on a case-by-case basis, it is worth checking the current requirements on the official source (USCIS) and evaluating your profile with a specialist before deciding on a category.
