In EB-1C, the EB-1 pathway for managers and executives, what matters is the nature of your duties, not your formal job title. Having served as a supervisor abroad without the ‘manager’ designation does not, by itself, rule out eligibility for this category.
The analysis focuses on whether, in practice, you exercised responsibilities typical of a management role. Elements that help demonstrate this include:
- Supervising a team and coordinating the work of others.
- Making meaningful decisions about processes or strategy.
- Influencing hiring, terminations, or the definition of company routines.
For this reason, documentation is decisive. Company letters, job descriptions, organizational charts, and reports that detail your level of authority help show that, despite the supervisor title, your role was managerial in substance.
Since EB-1C has a qualifying experience period and each case is evaluated individually, confirm the current requirements with the USCIS or a specialist before filing your petition.
