I don’t want to share my pay stubs for privacy reasons in the EB-1: what now?

In the EB-1, it is common to need financial documents, such as pay stubs, to demonstrate your compensation and the strength of your career. If your concern is privacy, the good news is that these documents go to the reviewing officers in the process, not to a public page.

In other words, the information is reviewed by the responsible officials within the procedure, without exposure to the general public. That already reduces much of the risk that typically drives this kind of concern.

In addition, in many cases it is possible to submit versions with sensitive data redacted, such as account numbers and non-essential information, as long as this does not compromise the clarity and authenticity of what you need to prove. If you choose to do so:

• Preserve the data that actually demonstrate your qualifications and compensation.
• Redact only what is irrelevant to the evaluation.
• Follow the official instructions on how to submit each document.

Since the acceptance of documents with redacted data depends on the applicable rules, the best course of action is to confirm what is accepted with the official source or with a specialist before assembling your petition package.
