I am a reserve player on a national championship team. Does that qualify for the EB-1A?

Being part of a national championship team is an achievement, but on its own it rarely sustains an EB-1A petition. This category evaluates the individual recognition and accomplishments of the candidate, not the collective result of the team.

As a reserve player, the challenge is to show that you, individually, are among the notable names in your sport. The team title counts as context, but the weight comes from evidence of your own recognition, such as:

• Individual distinctions and awards in your sport.
• Media coverage and independent sources about your performance.
• A leadership role or personal contribution with a meaningful impact on the sport.

If that individual evidence is still limited, it may make sense to strengthen your profile over time or to explore other immigration categories. USCIS reviews each case individually, so it is worth mapping your track record with a specialist before deciding on the best path forward.
