Do publications in a ‘prestigious internal newsletter’ count for the EB-1?

Publications in an internal newsletter, even one considered prestigious within a company, tend to carry less weight in an EB-1 petition. The category values recognition that is independent of your own organization, so a piece with internal circulation does not always demonstrate external impact in your field.

Publications in outlets recognized outside the company tend to be stronger, particularly those with wide circulation, peer review, or consolidated acceptance in your area. They help show that your work is recognized by those who have no direct connection to you.

That does not mean an internal newsletter is useless. If it is also a reference in professional or academic circles, and you can show that the content had influence beyond the organization, it can add to the overall picture as supporting evidence.
