It may be possible, but it depends on the substance of the role, not the title. The EB-1C is the path for executives and managers transferred within a multinational structure, and the analysis looks for evidence of genuinely managerial or executive functions exercised during a qualifying period abroad before the transfer to the United States.
Holding the title of marketing manager, by itself, is not enough. Neither is leading people on paper. The key is the actual content of your responsibilities:
- Driving relevant strategies and making significant business decisions.
- Having autonomy and authority over an area, budget, or essential function.
- Operating at a management level, not merely carrying out operational tasks.
On not having a team: supervising direct reports helps, but it is not the only path. There is room for those who manage an essential function of the organization with strategic responsibility, even without a large team below them. A purely operational role, however, is unlikely to qualify.
Since each case is evaluated individually, the safest approach is to verify the current requirements and review with a specialist whether your actual duties support the profile the EB-1C demands.
