Can I combine EB-1A with a job offer to strengthen the final merits?

It is not required, and it generally does not help. The EB-1A, the green card for extraordinary ability, is a self-sufficient category: it was designed precisely to waive the job offer requirement and allow self-petition. Attaching a job offer is not a requirement and, on its own, does not strengthen the final merits stage.

In some cases, the offer can actually work against the narrative. Because the EB-1A relies on demonstrating independent recognition and achievement on your own merits, including an employer can suggest you need sponsorship, which undermines the very core of the category.

What truly drives the final merits is the strength of the overall evidence package, such as:

• Letters from recognized experts attesting to your influence;
• Leadership roles, coverage in specialized press, and other proof of distinction.

If you have a job offer and still want to use it, it can appear as evidence that your work is valued, but never as the foundation of the case.
