Young, white, and predominantly Latter-day Saint population in Rexburg
Rexburg's population hovers around forty thousand, with a strong student presence. Most residents are white, young, married early, and connected to the LDS Church, with a small Latino minority.
Rexburg has around 40,000 residents, with a very low median age due to BYU-Idaho. Young families with several children are the norm. The ethnic profile is homogeneous: the vast majority is non-Hispanic white, with a small Latino community linked to agriculture and construction in the surrounding area.
English is the only language in common use in commerce and services. Spanish appears in some churches and small markets. The Brazilian community is minimal, though Brazilian members of the LDS Church can be found near the university and in rural enclaves throughout eastern Idaho.
Newcomers typically notice the cultural uniformity quickly. This is not a multicultural city in the way Chicago or Denver are. On the other hand, neighbors tend to be welcoming, and support networks through wards (local congregations) function well for church members.
