Will I need to show bank statements?

As a rule, no. The O-1 visa is designed for individuals who stand out in fields such as arts, sciences, sports, education, or business, so the documentation centers on proving your extraordinary ability, not your financial situation.

The main weight falls on evidence such as awards, publications, contracts, recommendation letters, and other indicators of recognition in your field, along with proof of a work arrangement with companies, producers, or organizations in the United States.

That does not mean financial documents never come up. Depending on the case and the consulate’s review, some proof may be requested to reinforce the existence of an offer or a work contract, but bank statements are not the standard in this process.

Since the exact requirements vary by case, it is worth confirming the document list through the official guidelines (Department of State and the relevant consulate) or with a specialist before the interview.
