I manage a band: can I petition for O-1 visas for all the members?

As a manager, you can petition for multiple band members, but each case is filed separately: O-1 for extraordinary individual talent, O-2 for essential support roles.

Yes, it is possible to petition for more than one band member, but with an important caveat: each person is evaluated individually. There is no automatic group petition; what exists is a set of separate requests, each standing on its own merits.

The distinction usually falls into two categories:

  • Members with extraordinary recognition and achievements tend to qualify under O-1, the visa for artists with exceptional ability.
  • Those providing essential support to the principal artist, such as accompanying musicians or indispensable technicians, may qualify under O-2.

In practice, this means building strong evidence for each member, demonstrating either individual distinction or the supporting role that justifies their presence in the group. One profile does not automatically sustain the other.

Because each situation within the band is different, it is worth seeking specialized guidance and reviewing updated requirements with USCIS before filing the petitions.
