Do recommendation letters have an expiration date?

There is no formal expiration date for recommendation letters in the O-1 visa. No rule states that letters become invalid after a specific period, so a letter is not disqualified simply because it was written some time ago.

In practice, however, recency matters. The letters serve to demonstrate the ongoing recognition of your achievements, and recent testimonials tend to better reflect your current career stage. Very old letters may appear less representative of your professional moment and weaken the perceived relevance of the evidence.
