Do I need a medical exam for the L-1?

As a general rule, the L-1 visa does not require a medical exam. It is a nonimmigrant visa designed for intracompany transfers of executives, managers, or employees with specialized knowledge within the same organization, and a medical examination is not part of that process in most cases.

Medical exams are typically required in immigration processes, such as obtaining a green card through consular processing or adjusting status inside the United States. Because the L-1 is a temporary nonimmigrant category, that step generally does not apply.
