Is the H-1B process digital or paper-based?

Today the H-1B process is mostly digital. Over the years, USCIS has modernized the workflow, and most steps that once required printed forms are now handled electronically, with the sponsoring employer completing and submitting petitions online.

That said, digital does not mean entirely paperless at every stage. Depending on the case, supporting documentation may be required in electronic format and, in some situations, supplemented by physical copies. It helps to keep these two things separate:

• The petition submission typically takes place through the official USCIS portal.
• The supporting documentation may combine digital formats and, occasionally, physical ones.

Because systems and requirements change from time to time, the safest approach is to check the current procedure on the official USCIS website before getting started, rather than relying on intermediaries who promise shortcuts or guaranteed approvals.
