Do I need professor recommendation letters?

No. Professor recommendation letters are not a formal requirement of the H-1B. The process focuses on demonstrating that a genuine job offer exists and that the candidate holds the technical and academic qualifications required by the specialty occupation.

That does not mean recommendations are useless. Depending on the field and how you want to present your background, they may be included as supplementary evidence, helping to illustrate your education and experience.
