Does the EB-5 give access to a mortgage in the United States?

The EB-5 opens the door to the American financial system, but it does not guarantee automatic mortgage access: as a permanent resident, you can pursue financing, and each bank will evaluate your profile.

Not automatically. The EB-5 is an investment-based immigration pathway, not a credit line: it does not grant mortgage financing or guarantee approval from any bank. What it does offer is a path to permanent residency in the United States.

What changes, in practice, is your starting point. By becoming a permanent resident through the EB-5, you gain access to the same financial services available to residents of the country, including the possibility of applying for a mortgage. The decision, however, remains with the bank.

Loan approval depends on each institution’s own criteria, which typically look at:

  • Your credit history in the United States.
  • Your income and demonstrated financial stability.
  • Collateral and the specific conditions of each loan product.

In short, the EB-5 opens the door to the American financial system, but each case is evaluated individually. Be wary of promises of guaranteed credit and, before counting on financing, speak with a financial professional and verify the actual terms with the institutions directly.
