Is it true that STEM makes NIW approval easier?

Not exactly. STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) appear frequently among EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) cases, but being in one of these fields does not generate automatic approval or create a shortcut in the process.

What the EB-2 NIW evaluates is whether the applicant’s work has merit and national importance and whether it makes sense to waive the job offer and labor certification requirements in the interest of the nation. STEM fields often provide clear examples of impact, which helps explain their presence in these cases, but the weight lies in the evidence, not in the profession’s label.
