Does having an Associate’s degree help?

It helps as part of your overall background, but an Associate’s degree on its own is unlikely to meet what the EB-2 NIW typically presupposes. This category starts from a higher academic threshold, and an associate’s degree generally falls below it.

In broad terms, the EB-2 relies on an advanced degree or on a bachelor’s degree accompanied by relevant and progressive professional experience that approaches that level. An Associate’s degree alone tends not to reach that benchmark, even though it represents a valid step in an academic path.
