The EB-2 NIW is not an investment visa. Unlike the EB-5, it does not evaluate how much money you have spent or deployed: what matters is the merit of your work and its national importance. Costs alone are not a criterion, and there is no specific amount that needs to be demonstrated.
That does not mean expenses and projects are irrelevant. They can appear as contextual evidence, helping to show the seriousness, scale, and reach of your work, as long as they are connected to the value your contributions bring to the United States.
- Documents describing the project or activity and the problem it addresses.
- Proposals, sector analyses, or technical reports explaining the potential impact of your work.
- Organized records that provide transparency and coherence to the overall picture, when you choose to include them.
In other words, rather than trying to prove an investment as such, focus on demonstrating that your work has substance and benefits the national interest. Because the analysis is conducted case by case, it is worth reviewing the current criteria on the official source (USCIS) and assessing your profile with a specialist.
