Can some professional references overlap? Is that a problem?

Having some overlap among professional references is not, in itself, a problem for EB-2 NIW. To strike the right balance, consider seeking letters that highlight different facets of your work, for example:

• Another that speaks to your leadership in specific projects.
• Another that addresses your influence or recognition in your field.

That way, a degree of overlap stops being a risk and becomes reinforcement instead. Each case is evaluated individually by the relevant authority, so it is worth reviewing the current requirements with USCIS and, if it makes sense, working with a specialist to fine-tune your reference package.
