Only 1 association accepted me. Is it hard to argue it is selective?

Not necessarily. In the EB-1, what matters is not how many associations accepted you, but the selectivity and prestige of each one. A single association, if it is recognized and has a rigorous admission process in your field, can be a meaningful indicator.

Selectivity is assessed within the context of your field of expertise. It tends to weigh in your favor when the association:

• Requires outstanding achievements as a condition of membership.
• Is recognized and respected in your field.
• Has a rigorous, peer-reviewed admission process.

On the other hand, the value of that recognition always depends on the overall picture. A prestigious association carries significant weight when it appears alongside other evidence, such as publications, awards, and relevant contributions. On its own, it is unlikely to sustain an entire petition.

Since each case is evaluated individually, it is worth reviewing the USCIS updated guidance and, if possible, consulting a specialist on how best to demonstrate the selectivity of that association.
