My CrossFit champion won regionals. And I was the coach. Is that enough?

Regional athlete victory is not enough for EB-1; the coach must present extraordinary evidence recognized nationally or internationally to prove leadership and impact.

The EB-1 visa is intended for individuals who have achieved extraordinary recognition in their fields of expertise, whether through international awards, significant contributions in the field, or other robust evidence of excellence recognized at the national or international level. This category requires a consistent and convincing set of evidence demonstrating that the applicant is a leader in their area.

In the case where you acted as a coach for an athlete who won regional competitions, it is important to understand that, for the EB-1, the criteria tend to be very strict. Generally, for contributions or high-level achievements to be considered extraordinary evidence, awards and accomplishments must be at higher levels – such as national or international recognitions – or demonstrate that the professional has significantly influenced the field in which they operate.

A regional victory, although a relevant achievement within the sports scope, may not be sufficient to compose a robust EB-1 petition if not accompanied by other substantial factors that attest to the coach’s extraordinary excellence. Moreover, the role of mentor or coach must be supported by results demonstrating broad impact in the area, publications, personal awards, or other evidence supporting their reputation and unique contribution to the sport.

Therefore, if the only evidence to be considered is the athlete’s regional result, it is unlikely that this alone will meet the requirements demanded by the EB-1 category. It is essential to stay informed about United States immigration laws and seek complete and updated information when preparing a case. It is recommended that, before making any decision, you consult official sources or trusted specialists, avoiding falling for promises of easy results or simplified legal campaigns that do not represent the rigor required by the American immigration system.
