My band plays regional shows with no national press coverage. EB-1A?

It is a challenging path, but understanding the standard is worth the effort. The EB-1A is the green card category for extraordinary ability, and it requires sustained recognition at the national or international level. A band with purely regional activity and no broader reach faces, from the outset, the challenge of demonstrating that wider recognition.

That does not mean only national fame counts. What the review looks for is a body of evidence showing excellence acknowledged beyond a local circle, for example:

• Significant awards and distinctions within your musical field.
• Coverage or critical reviews from outlets with broad reach.
• Participations, collaborations, or invitations that project the work outside the region.
• Recognition from notable experts and peers in the industry.

If the band’s activity is currently regional only, the effort lies in demonstrating exceptional merits that cross that boundary, or in building that track record before filing a petition. Each case is evaluated individually by USCIS.

It is worth checking the current criteria on the official source and reviewing your materials with a specialist, who can assess whether your profile is already strong enough for the EB-1A or what still needs to be strengthened.
