I’ve won regional awards for 3 consecutive years. Can they prove ‘outstanding awards’?

In the EB-1, the weight of an award depends on its prestige and reach. Winning regional awards for three consecutive years demonstrates consistency and dedication, but for the outstanding awards criterion, adjudicators typically expect recognition at a national or international level.

The evaluation considers factors such as:

• The visibility and prestige of the award.
• The rigor and selectivity of the selection criteria.
• The organization granting the award and its reputation in the field.

This does not invalidate your regional awards: sustained consistency over time is a positive signal and can be included as supporting evidence. The key point is that, on their own, they may not be enough to satisfy the high-distinction awards criterion.

Keep in mind that EB-1 evaluates a body of evidence as a whole. Publications, membership in associations, speaking invitations, and other contributions all help strengthen the case. Since each situation is assessed individually, review the current criteria with the USCIS or a qualified specialist.
