I received patent awards at trade fairs. Are they regional or national?

It depends on the scope of the event, not the award itself. In EB-1, what the analysis weighs is the reach and prestige of the recognition: a fair limited to a city or state tends to produce a regional award, while an event gathering participants from multiple regions or the entire country brings the recognition closer to a national level.

More important than labeling is demonstrating the weight of the award. To do that, document the context of the event:

• Who organizes the fair and what the reputation of that institution is.
• Where participants came from and how competitive the selection process was.
• What the award recognizes and how it resonated in your field.

A well-documented regional award, backed by a respected organization and genuine competition, can carry more weight than a ‘national’ label with no substance. The goal is to show that the recognition is meaningful, not merely that it exists. Since each case is evaluated individually, confirm the updated requirements with USCIS and align the presentation of your evidence with a specialist.
