I have regional awards and judged a local event. Is breadth an issue?

Regional awards and serving as a judge at a local event do count as evidence in an EB-1 petition, but on their own they may not reach the level of recognition the category typically expects. EB-1 targets individuals who demonstrate distinction on a broader scale, national or international.

That does not mean setting aside what you already have. The strategy is to expand the reach of your overall profile, showing that your contributions resonate beyond the regional level.

• Recognition or honors with national or international scope.
• Letters from prominent experts attesting to the significance of your work.
• Publications, media coverage, and other proof of wider influence.

The weight comes from the combined body of evidence, assessed on a case-by-case basis by the competent authority. It is worth reviewing your file with a specialist to identify what can strengthen your breadth before you file.
