I have local gastronomy awards but no widespread recognition. What now?

In the EB-1, local gastronomy awards can be included as supporting evidence, but they rarely stand on their own. The visa looks for signs of recognition with broad reach in your field, and an award limited to a local circuit, however meaningful it may be to your career, tends to carry less weight.

That does not mean these awards are useless. They help build a picture, especially when you can demonstrate the prestige of the award, the rigor of the selection process, and the standing of the judges. What matters is the reading of the overall record, not any single item in isolation.

To strengthen the application, it is worth complementing with other evidence of impact:

• Coverage in specialized media and recognition by peers.
• Participation in events, collaborations, or projects with broader reach.
• Letters from experts attesting to your influence in the field.

Since each case is evaluated individually, it is worth verifying the updated requirements with USCIS and assembling the file with specialized support.
