I have 2 sports awards and 1 judging role, but zero ‘media coverage’. Is that enough?

In the EB-1 for individuals with extraordinary ability, there is no fixed checklist of items to tick off: the USCIS evaluates whether the totality of your evidence demonstrates consistent recognition in your field. Sports awards and service as a judge of others’ work are both accepted types of evidence.

The absence of ‘media coverage’ simply means you have not presented that specific type of proof. It does not automatically disqualify the petition, because the analysis is holistic and each element is weighed alongside all the others. A profile can be strong even without covering every possible evidence category.

What truly matters is the overall strength of the package. It is worth gathering proof that reinforces the reach and relevance of your achievements, such as:

• Documentation establishing the significance of the awards (national or international recognition).
• Evidence of your role evaluating the work of other professionals.
• Additional recognitions that demonstrate the impact of your career.

Because each case is assessed individually, the best step is to verify the current criteria with the USCIS or with a specialist who can evaluate whether your evidence package is well positioned.
