I am a best-seller author in another language but with few sales in the U.S. Does that count?

It counts as a positive factor, but it does not decide the case on its own. In the EB-1, being a best-seller in another language signals success, and that works in your favor. What the category evaluates, however, goes beyond sales figures: it is the impact and recognition your work carries within the literary field.

With modest sales in the United States, the path forward is to show that your work has influence that crosses borders. Helpful evidence includes:

• Literary awards and distinctions.
• Reviews and critical coverage in specialized publications.
• Translations, academic adoption, or international reach.
• Recognition by other authors and experts in the field.

In other words, commercial performance in a single market is just one piece. What sustains a candidacy is a coherent body of evidence demonstrating original contribution and recognized standing in your field.

Since each case is evaluated individually, it is worth reviewing the updated guidelines from USCIS and, when possible, seeking specialized support to build a solid documentation package.
