No. The E-2 does not renew automatically. When the authorized validity period ends, the investor (and any dependents) must request a new authorization to maintain status; there is no extension that happens on its own.

Each renewal or extension goes through a new review by the competent authorities, whether at the consulate or, in certain cases, through USCIS. At that stage, you will typically need to demonstrate that:

  • The business continues to operate in a genuine manner;
