Are there restrictions on exporting certain products with the E-1?

The E-1 visa itself does not carry a list of prohibited products: it is a trade visa, not an export control regime. That does not mean everything can be exported freely.

Operations conducted by E-1 holders remain subject to U.S. laws and regulations on export control. Regimes such as the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) impose restrictions on sensitive categories, including:

• Military or defense-related items.
• Dual-use technologies (civil and military) considered sensitive.
• Strategic products linked to national security.

In short, the visa enables commercial activity, but the export itself must comply with these rules, which apply regardless of visa status. Because the lists and classifications change, verify the applicable rules with the official U.S. export control authorities and with a specialist before operating.
