Young city with diversity linked to the air base
Predominantly Anglo-white. Hispanic community around 12%, African American, Pacific Islander, and Asian presence thanks to Hill AFB. Military families from across the country.
Layton is predominantly non-Hispanic white and Mormon, but the presence of Hill Air Force Base brings significant diversity. Military personnel and their dependents come from all 50 states and various ethnic backgrounds, making Layton more diverse than other Utah suburbs.
The Hispanic community is around 12%, with Mexican and Central American families. There are African American, Asian (especially Filipino and Korean, connected to the base), and Pacific Islander communities in proportions notable for a city of its size.
Brazilians exist in small numbers, some connected to Portuguese-speaking Mormon wards serving the northern valley, others through military or civilian contracts at the base. Brazilian markets and restaurants are found in nearby West Valley.
