The process of obtaining the P-1 visa in the United States involves specific steps that may raise questions, especially regarding the need for interviews. It is important to understand that the roles of USCIS and the embassies or consulates are distinct in this process.

Normally, USCIS reviews and approves the petition (such as Form I-129) submitted by the petitioner, who may be the organization or agent responsible for the athlete”s or artistic group”s event or activity. At this stage, there is no in-person interview with USCIS. The decision is based on the documentation presented and compliance with the P-1 visa requirements.

On the other hand, if the beneficiary is outside the United States, after the petition is approved, the next step is to apply for the visa at a U.S. embassy or consulate. At this stage, it is common practice for the applicant to attend an interview at the consulate. This interview serves to confirm information, assess eligibility, and ensure that the documents are in order for visa issuance. Therefore, although USCIS does not conduct a direct interview during the petition approval, the consular interview may be mandatory and is conducted by Department of State officials.

It is important to emphasize that strictly following immigration laws and official procedures is fundamental. When dealing with immigration processes, always verify information directly with official sources from the United States government and consider seeking assistance from professionals specialized in the matter – thus avoiding scams or marketing campaigns that promise guaranteed or quick results. Each case is unique and should be analyzed based on current legislation and individual circumstances.

Staying informed and acting within the law is the best way to ensure a safe and successful immigration process.
