There is no specific interview created exclusively for the L-2 visa. Dependents of the L-1 holder go through the same consular process as other nonimmigrant visa applicants, and the interview, when it takes place, follows the standard consulate procedure.

The L-2 is the dependent category (qualifying spouse and children) of those who hold the L-1, the intracompany transferee visa. It allows the family to accompany the primary holder during the period of work in the United States.

Whether an L-2 applicant will be required to attend an interview depends on factors such as:

  • The consulate or embassy responsible for the applicant’s jurisdiction.
  • The applicant’s profile and visa history.
  • Administrative criteria that each post applies and may update.

As a result, interviews are common but not required in every case. The best approach is to follow the instructions of the responsible consular post, gather the requested documentation, and confirm the current rules through official channels before scheduling.
