There is no exclusive scheduling priority for L-1 at the consulate. Visa interview appointments follow a standardized process that depends on slot availability and the order of requests, with no faster channel reserved simply because the petition is for an L-1.

In practice, this means that the transferred executive or manager joins the same appointment queue as all other categories served by that consulate. Processing speed depends far more on the local consulate schedule than on the visa type itself.

There is, however, a path for truly exceptional situations: in cases of proven urgency or emergency, it is possible to request an expedited appointment. This is not an L-1-specific rule, and each consulate applies its own criteria when reviewing such a request, which must be submitted with appropriate documentation and justification.

  • The L-1 does not have its own priority queue at the consulate.
  • Appointments follow slot availability and order of request.
  • Proven urgency may allow an expedited appointment request, evaluated case by case.

Because schedules and criteria vary by consulate, it is worth checking the official page of the Department of State and the responsible consulate for current rules, and seeking specialized guidance if your case is urgent.
