The Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) was created to facilitate temporary entry into the United States for citizens of countries participating in the Visa Waiver Program. This system allows U.S. authorities to pre-screen travelers’ profiles, but this does not mean that the entry process is limited to just the electronic authorization.

In practice, many travelers who enter through ports of entry using ESTA may not receive the traditional stamp in their passports, as the entry record is made electronically. However, this does not mean that the stamp is ‘‘waived’’ per se; it is more of an update in the control methods adopted by U.S. authorities.

In some cases, depending on the immigration officer and the type of entry, the passport may receive a stamp or another form of physical annotation. The important thing is that your entry record exists in the electronic system, ensuring that your entry was regularized.

Regardless of how the record is made, it is essential that all U.S. immigration laws are respected. Always check your information and make sure you are using the official channels to request your ESTA authorization. Remember to seek reliable guidance and avoid resorting to companies or marketing campaigns that promise guaranteed results – the only safe way to proceed is by strictly following the official guidelines.

Thus, while ESTA modernizes entry control through electronic records, the eventual need or not for a physical stamp will depend on the specific situation at the time of arrival. Therefore, stay informed and always consult official sources for any questions about your trips to the United States.
