Maintaining permanent resident status in the United States, whether obtained through EB-5 or another pathway, generally does not require a mandatory recurring fee paid to the government simply to keep that status. There is no ‘monthly membership’ for permanent residency.

That said, costs do arise over time. It helps to distinguish between your status itself, which is permanent, and the physical card (green card), which has an expiration date and must be renewed periodically, at the applicable fee at that time. Additional costs may include:

  • A potential naturalization application, which carries its own filing and biometrics costs;
  • Tax obligations, since permanent residents file U.S. taxes and may need accounting support depending on the complexity of their situation;
  • Professional advisory services, when the case requires them.

There are also obligations that carry no upfront charge but can prove costly if neglected, such as maintaining actual residence, updating your address, and complying with immigration laws. Because fees and rules change, confirm current amounts directly on the USCIS website before making financial plans.
