Can I manage my investment remotely?

With EB-5, you can monitor your investment from a distance: the program requires managerial involvement, not daily presence, and many projects through regional centers are designed with that in mind.

In most cases, yes. The EB-5 program does not require the investor to handle the day-to-day operations of the enterprise or to live near the project. What the program expects is that you maintain a minimum level of managerial involvement, which can be exercised from a distance depending on how the investment is structured.

A large share of projects, especially those run through regional centers, are set up precisely so that the investor plays a policy-making partner role without having to manage the business on a daily basis. In this format, it is common to monitor performance through periodic reports and meetings, without requiring a constant physical presence.

That said, each enterprise has its own rules: some call for more direct investor participation, while others allow fully remote involvement. The key is to confirm that the chosen structure preserves the type of engagement the program requires and that the project and its management team are reputable.

Before committing, it is worth checking the updated rules with USCIS and reviewing the project structure with a specialist, steering clear of arrangements that promise guaranteed returns or fall outside the program’s standard framework.
