How extensive should my project portfolio be if I am a consultant?

In the EB-2 NIW, there is no correct size or minimum number of projects for a consultant’s portfolio. What matters is not volume, but the quality and relevance of what you present and how clearly it demonstrates outstanding contributions in your field.

Instead of accumulating work samples, select the projects in which you played a leading role and that best showcase your expertise. For each one, provide enough context for the reviewer to understand the complexity and the outcome.

• A clear description of the challenge, your role, and the solutions you implemented.
• Results achieved, with measurable data whenever possible.
• Testimonials or letters from clients and partners, when available.
• Innovative projects or those that generated meaningful change in your field.

The goal is for the overall portfolio to tell a coherent story about your unique value and the potential impact of your work, not simply to be lengthy. Since each case is evaluated individually, check the official guidance from USCIS and, if possible, validate your strategy with a specialist before filing.
