Do IT infrastructure investments help demonstrate national benefit in the EB-2 NIW?

It is important to distinguish two paths. The EB-2 NIW is a route based on individual merit, in which the candidate demonstrates that their work has national importance, and not an investment route like the EB-5. For this reason, spending on IT infrastructure is not, in itself, an approval criterion.

What truly matters is the impact of your professional work. If you work in technology, the focus of your evidence should be showing how your contribution serves the country’s strategic interests, for example:

• How your work drives innovation, productivity, or competitiveness.
• Expert letters attesting to the relevance of your work.
• Concrete results, partnerships, and recognition in your field.

Investments and business plans can illustrate that impact, but they are background context, not the primary evidence. Since each case is evaluated individually, confirm the current criteria with USCIS or with a specialist.
