Do leadership roles at public research institutions also qualify for EB-1B?

The EB-1B is designed for researchers and professors with international recognition for their contributions. Holding a leadership role, including at a public research institution, can help, but the title alone does not guarantee eligibility.

What is evaluated is the substance of the role. A leadership position that involves hands-on research tends to strengthen the case; one that is essentially administrative tends to carry little weight.

• Roles that are purely administrative, with no direct connection to research, weaken it.
